Forget Olivia Benson: This is the real SVU

Besides the obvious, I am a big fan of Law & Order Special Victims Unit for many reasons:

1)    Richard Belzer and I are both published in Suspense Magazine

2)    Christopher Meloni looks just like my old boss

3)    Ice T wrote songs about “gangster” life and now he plays a cop

4)    Dann Florek is the only one who actually looks like a cop

5)    The name Mariska is really fun to say

I recently ran across a great article from The Daily Beast that profiles the real detectives of the NYPD SVU. Writer Christopher Dickey’s article is called To Catch a Creep and can be found here:

My true crime article, “Tourist Trap”, is now available in this month’s edition of Suspense Magazine

My latest true crime article, “Tourist Trap:  Oba Chandler and the Murder of the Rogers Family” is now available in this month’s edition of Suspense Magazine.

On June 4, 1989, the bodies of Jo, Michelle, and Christe Rogers were found floating in the serene waters of Tampa Bay. They were stripped below the waist, bound, and tied to concrete blocks.

How could such a tragedy happen in paradise?
